Range Riders split series with Missoula

MISSOULA — Angel Mendoza collected three hits including a double that drove in two runs in the seventh inning, but the Glacier Range Riders couldn’t complete the comeback, losing to the Missoula PaddleHeads 7-6 to split the six-game series in Pioneer League baseball on Sunday.
Mendoza finished with three RBIs and the Range Riders (7-4) threatened to tie the game in the ninth inning as Logan Beard and Gavin Tonkel both reached base with no outs. The next three batters were retired in order to end the game.
JD McLaughlin doubled home two runs in the sixth inning and drove in another on a sacrifice fly to pace the Range Riders out of the leadoff spot. Beard scored two runs, and Efrain Manzo added two hits. Kingston Liniak reached base three times via walks.
Rayne Supple earned the loss for Glacier, giving up seven runs; all of them earned across 5 1-3 innings. The combination of Luke Cooper, Davis Pratt and Nick Zenga pitched the remainder of the game, not allowing a hit or earned run.
Collon Gordon and Carlos Perez collected two hits and two RBIs each for the PaddleHeads (6-5). Alec Sanchez reached base twice on walks and came around to score both times.
