Lamanna, Yount named Priest River Booster Club Athletes of the Year

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River High seniors Paityn Yount and Brayden Lamanna were recently named the Priest River Booster Club Athletes of the Year for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Yount participated in volleyball, where she posted 55 kills, eight assists, 25 total blocks, 91 digs and seven aces as a right-side hitter and middle blocker, started every game for the 3A Central Idaho League runner-up and state play-in game qualifier Lady Spartans basketball team, which posted a season record of 15-8, and led Priest River girls golf to another successful season, finishing second at the 3A District 1-2 Championship with a score of 104 and tying for 11th at the 3A State Championship with rounds of 101 and 98.
Lamanna, committed to Treasure Valley CC in Ontario, Ore. broke the 5,000-meter, 3,200-meter and 1,600-meter run school records while competing in cross country and track & field. In cross country, he won two invitationals, was the 3A Central Idaho League district champion, finished fourth at the 3A State Championship, and ran to a new school record time of 15 minutes, 42 seconds and captured a bronze medal at the Inland Empire Championships hosted by Lewis-Clark State College. In track & field, he was the 3A CIL district champion in the 800-meter run, the 1,600-meter run, the 3,200-meter run and was a part of the winning 1,600-meter sprint medley relay. At the 3A State Championship, he was the runner-up in the 1,600-meter run (4:23.53) and 3,200-meter run (9:29.88) with new school record times and anchored the Spartans fifth-place 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:41.86), which also broke the school record. He collected 15 gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals throughout the season.
