Full caption: Playing in the 2012 age bracket, the Albion SC Sandpoint 2013/14' boys won the U13 Bronze division of the 3BR Tournament held Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 1 at the Kidsport Soccer Complex in Kalispell, Mont. The team went 4-0 overall, defeating the Sting Soccer Club of Coeur d'Alene by a score of 8-1, the Big Sky Futbol Club of Gallatin County, Mont. 5-0, the Flathead Valley United FC of Kalispell, Mont. 8-0, and the BVB International Academy of Coeur d'Alene 2-0 in the championship match. Matthew McDaniel led the Albion attack, scoring nine goals throughout the tournament. Mason Donenfeld, Sam Sattleen, Aiden Mojzis, Garrison Markwardt and Felix Carlson all scored two goals each. Coach Lawson Tate said midfielder Greyson Reid was stellar in all four games, that Raleigh Brown, Keldon Ridley, Will Hawn, Jacob Moren and Kit Gaddess anchored the defense, and that Griffin Asquith was solid in between the posts, even scoring a goal on a free kick from 28 yards out. "With half of the boys playing up two years, the opponent's size and strength advantage was notable," coach Tate said. "Our boys' tactical game and technical ball skills proved superior. Playing on a full-sized 11 vs. 11 field in the heat was a test for the youngsters and we needed every bit of our deep 18-man roster. The sportsmanship was top notch and we sincerely appreciate the Flathead Valley United crew for hosting such a wonderful event." The team will conclude their spring season at the Kootenay Rovers Classic set to be held Friday through Sunday in both Kimberly and Cranbrook, British Columbia.
