No injuries in Moses Lake outdoor grill fire

MOSES LAKE — An outdoor grill prompted a response from the Moses Lake Fire Department on Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. at a residence on Bayside Drive, according to a MLFD press release. Multiple callers reported a large fire in the backyard of the residence, but did not know if the residence or any adjacent structures were involved.
The fire was in the home’s backyard, caused by the grill. No one was found inside the house, the release said.
The MLFD responded with two engines and one medic unit as well as two command staff.
“The incident serves as an important reminder that cooking fire are the leading cause of house fires in the United States,” the MLFD release said. “The department urges all residents to use caution when cooking and never leave active flames or heat sources unattended.”

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam
MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
