Bowen smashes grand slam

Parker Bowen, a left-handed first baseman and outfielder for the Sandpoint Sasquatch 11U travel baseball team, smashed an over-the-fence grand slam during a game against the River City Thunder on Wednesday at Travers Park. On a 3-2 count in the bottom of the fifth inning, Bowen swung at a pitch near the bottom of the zone and launched it to straightaway center field. As he rounded third base and neared home plate, he was met by a large crowd of teammates that cheered him on all the way into the dugout. Bowen finished the contest 3-for-3 with four RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
