Sandpoint Sharks make waves at Tri-City Invite

PASCO, Wash. — Five Sandpoint Sharks swam at the Tri-City Invitational hosted by the Tri-City Channel Cats from Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8, at Memorial Aquatic Park.

“I am really proud of the small team I had at the meet," head coach Emily Renzini said. "It was a long meet and they showed up for each other. A lot of them got best times."

Sandpoint's Brylee Garvin, 13, swam to a handful of new personal bests and was the only swimmer who competed in the 13-and-over age division.

“She really rocked it and dropped over 20 seconds in one of her events,” Renzini said.

Carter Hutchens, 10, continued to show his competitive drive, dropping time in a handful of his own events.

Charlie Johnson, 10, was among the top in two backstroke events, placing third in the 100-meter back and second in the 50 back.

Emerson Johnson, 7, swam to a second-place finish in one of her heats and Charlie Creager, 11, swam to new personal bests in both of the events she swam in. Creager also did a great job of cheering on her teammates whenever possible.
