A Troy man with multiple felony convictions is headed back to prison following a charge of driving under the influence earlier this year in Ravalli County.

Cody Allen Williams, 33, was in Lincoln County District Court Monday to answer a petition to revoke following a March 29 arrest by a Ravalli County officer. 

According to the charging documents, Williams admitted he had consumed alcohol. In addition, a field sobriety test indicated his blood alcohol level was at 0.164, more than twice the legal limit.

Williams admitted to the offenses in court and District Judge Matt Cuffe sentenced him to five years with three suspended. Williams received credit for serving 69 days in custody, but none for street time.

Willams pleaded guilty in 2018 to one felony count of burglary and was received a 3-year deferred sentence. About a year later, Williams was accused of assaulting a minor and pleaded guilty.

In August 2020, Williams received a 10-year prison sentence, with five suspended, in the 2018 case and a 5-year sentence in the 2019 assault case.

Williams spent his time in custody in Missoula and Butte before being released Oct. 15, 2021. But on Feb. 2, 2022, he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. Five days later, during an intervention hearing, he was granted permission to attend treatment at the Connections Corrections Program in Butte.

Williams was taken to Butte March 18, 2022, to begin treatment. June 1, Williams completed treatment and was released.

But Williams’ struggles with addiction continued. 

According to a state Probation and Parole report, between Aug. 6, 2022, and Dec. 5, 2024, Williams was arrested four times for allegedly using methamphetamine, failure to report and alcohol use. He spent time in various facilities, including in Butte, Helena, county jails in Lincoln and Broadwater, and the Recovery Center of Montana in Columbia Falls.

Following the completion of one of his prison sentences in March 18, 2025, Williams reported to the state Probation and Parole office in Hamilton to begin serving the suspended portion in a 2018 case.

He was then arrested in Ravalli County on DUI and driving on a suspended license.
