UPDATE: A Quincy man was booked into the Grant County Jail Saturday night after he allegedly attempted to steal fuel and then ran from law enforcement.
Marcos Trevino, 31, was booked on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, third-degree theft, resisting arrest, attempting to elude law enforcement and two counts of trespassing, according to a release from the Grant County Sheriff's Office on Sunday.
Trevino allegedly attempted to steal fuel from a vehicle in the 7500 block of Martin Road Northwest, about 6 miles southwest of Ephrata. The incident was reported at about 5 p.m. Saturday.
The suspect ran from GCSO deputies when they responded to the report, the release said, and ran into a nearby orchard. Deputies received a report that a man answering the suspect's description had appeared at a home in the 13000 block of Road F Northwest asking for a ride. When law enforcement arrived, the man allegedly stole an ATV, but hit a patch of mud and rolled it, taking off on foot and running into an orchard.
Deputies used drones and a GCSO K-9 unit for about an hour, and when the GCSO K-9 became tired and overheated, they were assisted by a K-9 unit from the Moses Lake Police Department, the release said. The search lasted for more than an hour, until about 8 p.m. Saturday.
