Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 6 months, 1 week AGO
Luanna Morris, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 21, 1941, in Great Falls, Luanna was the seventh of eight children born to George and Bertha Calvert. She graduated from Great Falls High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from The College of Great Falls.
While attending college, Luanna met the love of her life, John D. Morris, Jr., of Ohio. They were married on June 10, 1962, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and faith. They were blessed with three children, Todd Michael, Brookie JoAnn, and Marla Suzanne. Luanna endured the heartbreaking losses of Todd shortly after birth and Brookie in an accident in 1987, holding close the love of her surviving daughter, Marla.
In 1977, the Morris family moved to Kalispell, where Luanna began a long and dedicated career with the Kalispell School District as a para-educator. She touched the lives of countless children and colleagues with more than 30 years of service.
Luanna had a joyful spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. She loved golfing, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family — especially the many cherished moments at their home in Arizona. Her pride and joy were her three grandsons, Jacob, Jordan, and Jonah, and her great-grandson, Cayden.
Luanna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Calvert; her siblings, Marie (Ralph) Cook, George "Sonny" (Phyllis) Calvert, Joyce (Harry) Nisbet, Audrey (Ernie) Rutherford, Bonnie (Elmer) Lazure, Carol (Howard) Peretti and Barbara (Jerry) Shinaver; and her beloved children, Todd Michael Morris and Brookie JoAnn Morris.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, John Morris of Kalispell; her daughter, Marla (Derek) Nelson of Kalispell; grandsons, Jake (Savannah) Iverson of Superior; Jordan (Rose) Iverson of Missoula; and Jonah Iverson of Bigfork; and her great-grandson, Cayden Iverson of Superior.
Luanna's life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Luanna's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at Easthaven Baptist Church in Kalispell.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Luanna's name to the Montana Veterans' Home Memorial Foundation.
