LEGION BASEBALL: Tamagni sparks Northern Lakes sweep of St. Maries

SPIRIT LAKE — Griffin Tamagni drove in four runs in the first game as the Northern Lakes Mountaineers beat the St. Maries Savages 15-0 in a class A North Idaho League game Sunday at John Shaffer Field. 

Northern Lakes also won the nonleague second game 21-0. 

In the first game, Tamagni hit a two-run double in the fourth inning for Northern Lakes (10-1, 6-0 NIL), and finished 2 for 3 with three runs scored.  

Cooper Lenz went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the opener for the Mountaineers. Jace Taylor struck out six and allowed one hit in four innings for the hosts. 

In the second game, Jace Cooksey hit a two-run double in a 12-run third inning for Northern Lakes and finished with four RBIs. Taylor went 3 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored. 

Next up for Northern Lakes is a tournament in Bozeman, Mont., beginning Friday.
