Hilda M. Stinebaugh, 102, passed away Tuesday, June 10, at Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House, surrounded by her family. Hilda was born March 12, 1923, to Christian and Emma Erickson in Pelican Rapids, Minn., the second youngest of five children.

As a young woman, Hilda moved out west and worked as a waitress in California, for NASA in Texas, where she made electronic components and as a welder in Portland, Ore., building warships during World War II. While in Portland, she met her husband, Don Stinebaugh. They were married Dec. 23, 1943, in Portland, Ore. Hilda, Don and their four children moved to North Idaho in 1959.

Hilda and Don enjoyed traveling together for business and pleasure. Hilda loved spending time with her family. Their home on Corbin Road was a place of gatherings, holidays, birthdays and family get-togethers. So many wonderful memories were created in their home. Ones that will never be forgotten.

Hilda will be remembered by family and friends as one of the kindest and most thoughtful people ever to have been placed on this earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Emma Erickson; her husband, Don Stinebaugh; her sisters, Ellen Grunewald, Dagny Nelson, Edna Grunewald; and her brothers, Glenn Erickson and Louis Erickson, her children, Leonard (Sonny), Kenneth (Ken), Dennis (Tex), Donald, Rodney and Donna, and her grandson, Michael Gross.

She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Minter, and grandchildren, David Gross, Kellie (Mark) Willms, Kenny (Robin) Stinebaugh, Lenny Stinebaugh, Tina (John) Holecek, Steve Worley, Dennis Stinebaugh, Camie (Mike) Petrie, Jason Stinebaugh and Charlotte (Leon) Luther; And 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Hilda will remain in our hearts forever. We are going to miss you, Mom (Gram). Life will never be the same without you. We love you.

The family would like to thank Dr. Holli Hansen for her years of wonderful, compassionate care given to Gram. We would also like to thank Hospice of North Idaho for the amazing care they provided Hilda and her family.
