Kirk Frank Keuter, 82

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 months AGO
| June 17, 2025 1:00 AM

Kirk Frank Keuter went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 1, 2025. Kirk grew up in the Garwood/Rimrock area, raised on a farm, which instilled a humble but hardy work ethic. He graduated from Rathdrum School in 1960. He took business classes at Gonzaga University and served our country in the Army, mostly stationed in Germany.

Kirk was a custom home builder in the Spokane area before moving to Florida and establishing a roofing company that is still going strong. Kirk loved to be outdoors, and while in Florida, SCUBA diving became a passion. In fact, the local dive club is where he met his wife, Laura. Together, they returned to his hometown of Hayden, Idaho, in 2004. Outdoor activities then became target practice, hunting and fishing.

Kirk will be remembered for his quick wit as well as his generosity. Kirk’s philosophy was to always leave something better than it was before one came upon it. Kirk was steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ and truly loved serving others. He shared this just a few days before his passing: “The longer I live, the more I recognize no matter how rosy or how bad things might be at the present, the Lord will make everything turn out right for eternity for those who love Him. That must be our anchor for us who know Him!” That, above all else, is what he would want you to remember about him.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Laura Keuter; his son, Darin Keuter; his daughters, Connie Bowser and Kim Firestone; as well as his sister, Karen Mehew; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Family Worship Center, 697 W. Dakota Ave., Hayden. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kirk’s memory to Birthing Hope International, a nonprofit mission based in Idaho/S. Sudan, which was near and dear to Kirk’s heart. Mailing address: BHI, PO Box 663, Hayden, ID 83835. For further information or to donate, visit www.birthing-hope.org or use Venmo.
