Red Sox throw no-hitter, sweep Mariners

HAMILTON — Runs, and hits, were scarce for the Mission Valley Mariners Tuesday, when they lost both ends of a Legion doubleheader to the Bitterroot Red Sox by twin 10-0 scores.

The Mariners (8-10) managed just two singles — by Landon Shoemake and Aiden Gfroerer — in the first game. In the second game Jude Widmer and Hunter Harrness combined on a five-inning no-hitter. Both games ended in five innings under the run rule. 

Cash Lawrence gave up both Mariner hits plus three walks in four innings in the first game. He struck out six and helped his cause with a two-run single. Boedy Tadvick threw one scoreless inning and the game ended under the run rule. 

Joe Hixon hit a three-run homer and Reese Earp had two RBI doubles to lead the offense for the Red Sox (12-4). 

In the second game, Lawrence had three hits, including a double, and scored three times. Widmer retired all 12 Mariners he faced, five by strikeout. Harrness hit one batter and struck out one in the fifth inning.
