TRAVEL BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Sasquatch 17U hosts Owyhee Wave for 4-game series
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 6 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | June 17, 2025 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint High rising senior Sage Medeiros smashed a double and a triple as the Sasquatch's late rally fell just shy in Saturday's series finale against the Wave at War Memorial Field.
Sandpoint found themselves down 8-1 heading into the sixth frame, with the sole source of run production coming off the bat of a Carson Resso sacrifice fly. Resso then hit another sacrifice fly in the sixth, as did rising senior Hayden Miller, to put the Sasquatch within striking distance.
In the seventh, after a scoreless frame from Sandpoint High rising senior Soren Caprio in the bottom half of the sixth, rising senior Dallen Williams hit a sacrifice fly, Medeiros an RBI triple, and rising senior Parker Reichart, who was 3-for-4 at the plate, mashed an RBI single before the Wave were able to put together three outs.
Caprio, in his first appearance on the mound this summer, struck out two batters over 2.1 solid innings in relief.
The Sasquatch 17U are set to return to action this Friday through Sunday at the Centralia College Mini Showcase tournament, which will be held at the newly-turfed Fort Borst Park. The tournament is a wooden bat event and the Sasquatch are set to take on teams from Redmond, Wash., Lake Stevens, Wash., and Graham, Wash. for their first three games.
