SANDPOINT — White Pines Lacrosse is rolling out a lineup of summer programs for kids and adults in the Greater Sandpoint area. From youth leagues and camps to a growing men’s league, there’s something for everyone — whether you're new to the sport or looking to keep your skills sharp.
The youth girls and boys leagues are six-week programs for third through eighth graders and feature fast-paced, small-field games designed to keep things fun and give players lots of reps. The boys league will host 45-minute games on Wednesdays, starting July 9 and ending Aug. 13. The girls league will host 45-minute games on Tuesdays, starting July 8 and ending Aug. 12.
WPL is also offering a three-day youth camp for girls and boys ranging from first through eighth grade. The camp is set to be held July 14 through 16 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex in Ponderay. The camp costs $75, which includes a pinnie, and will be focused on fundamentals and high-energy drills.
The WPL men’s league will also return this summer with 7-on-7 games under the lights at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex in Ponderay. The league will last for six weeks and games will be played on Thursdays, starting July 10 and ending Aug. 14. The league, which is looking to form four teams, is open to rising high school freshman and older and is open to players of all skill levels. The cost is $75 and includes a fully sublimated team jersey.
“As the program director, we really just want to continue to develop our players here in North Idaho,” said Chad Cole. “With the short spring season, it’s hard to really develop before we have to be ready for games or tournaments. White Pines wants to offer local, fun, low-barrier options for our community.”
