June 19, 1975 – NEW ROTARY OFFICERS

New Rotary Club officers were installed at a buffet dinner at the Pastime Cafe Wednesday. Chuck Bonar, the new president, was handed the gavel by outgoing president Jim Judge. Other new officers are Harry Winter, vice president; Jim Nelson, secretary; and Bob Farmin, sergeant at arms.

F.O.E. OFFICERS INSTALLED 

Installed May 25 as officers of F.O.E. No. 589 were: Myron  Power, president; Gene Holt, vice president; LeRoy Decker, secretary; Clarence Brixen, treasurer; George Tibbetts, Jr., chaplain; Perry Welch, outside guard; and George Stolley, inside guard. Trustees installed were Leo Black, Ken Martin, John Hudon, Ed Kalb and Keith Roth. LeRoy Decker was the installation chairman.

COUNTY STUDENTS NAMED TO HONORS 

The following area students were named to the second semester dean’s list at the U of Idaho: Kathleen Taylor and Maureen Taylor, both from Careywood; Deana Pedersen White from Hope; Timothy A. Cochran, Gregory Green, Deborah Lyons, Marc Lyons, Dwight Scheffler and Gayla Chronic from Sagle; Constance Westfall, Samuels; Alvin Delamarter, Emmett Jones, Merrilin Snyder, Leland Rosenboom, Claudia Ammerman, Patricia Beaver, Judy Moon, Kris Contor, Michael Lyons, Susan Gutenberger, Kim Keaton, Douglas Madsen, Sherri Mitchell and Harry Plummer from Sandpoint.

June 19, 1950 – BECKER IN OKINAWA

Word is received by Mr. and Mrs. John E. Becker of Dover that their son, Pvt. Robert Becker, who is stationed on Okinawa, has been assigned as an ambulance and truck driver.

FARMER GRAY ON TOUR!

Sandpoint’s popular homespun character, Farmer Floyd Gray, was guest master of ceremonies at the finals of an amateur show which had been running at the Roxy theatre in Colfax. The audience enjoyed Farmer Gray’s stunts and wisecracks as much as the home folks do. The Roxy is managed by Martin Pellerin, who has been associated with Gray in the theatre business both in Sandpoint and in California.

TWIRLERS TO STUDY UNDER MASTER

Teddy Baker and Sonia Henriksson, SHS band twirlers, are in Lewiston for a three week course. They will study twirling under the head twirler for the University of Arkansas band, which this year led the famed New Orleans Mardi Gras parade.

GOLDEN JUBILEE WINDOW DISPLAYS

Visitors to Sandpoint’s Golden Jubilee will find plenty to see in store windows. About 100 early day county photos will be featured in windows of O.M. Jennestad, pioneer clothier; Marjean mannikins will be dressed in the fashions of yester-year; and Pend Oreille Sport Shop is planning a display of old guns.
