Lake County seniors selected for inaugural Montana Shrine Baseball Classic
Lake County Leader | UPDATED 1 year, 2 months AGO
Three standout seniors from Lake County high school baseball programs will suit up for the West in the inaugural Montana Shrine All-Star Baseball Classic, set for Aug. 16 at Three Legends Stadium in Butte.
Polson’s Landon Shoemake and Mission-Arlee-Charlo’s Justin Evans and Brody Smith were named to the West roster for the first-ever all-star event, which will raise money for the Spokane Shriners Hospital. Modeled after the long-running East-West Shrine football game, the new baseball classic brings together top seniors from across Montana.
Shoemake, a presence on the mound for Polson this spring, was one of six pitchers selected to the West roster. His reliable arm and leadership helped guide the Pirates through a strong season in Class A.
Joining him are two key players from the MAC’s squad. Justin Evans will cover first base, while Brody Smith was chosen as an outfielder.
The three Lake County players will join athletes from across western Montana under the direction of head coach Mike O’Connell from Miles City Community College.
First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 in Butte.
