WINCHESTER — A break in the wall of an irrigation canal closed a road for a few hours about four miles south of Winchester Saturday morning.
“There was a breach in the embankment,” said Troy Freeman of the Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District.
The break was reported on Winchester Road Northwest about 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Freeman said.
The breach was in a medium-sized lateral, Freeman said. No homes were at risk.
Freeman said crews will be working on fixing the embankment over the weekend, and repairs are expected to be completed by early next week.
