Joann Chronic, 93, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, in Sandpoint, Idaho. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Methodist Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, with the Rev. Catherine Lyle officiating.
Joann was born on March 18, 1932, in Lewellen, Nebraska, to Ivan and Mary Smith. In 1949, they moved to Sandpoint from Colorado and Joann graduated in 1950. She then attended Eastern College in Washington where she got an associate in education. She met Glen in 1951 at the Cocolalla Grange Hall at a dance, where her brother, Larry, set them up to meet. Joann and Glen later married on August 10, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Sandpoint.
She worked for Dr. Angus Snedden as a dental assistant, and then later went back to teaching; she taught in Bonner County for 14 years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, where she would make quilts for the Morning Glory Club that would donate them to children. She was also a part of the Live and Learn Club, the Dover Girls Club, and a 4-H leader. Joann loved to sew, quilt, embroider, travel, golf, play pinochle, and tend to her flowers.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie (George) Paullin of Spokane, Washington, Gayla (Chuck) Roady of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Susan (Lee) Partyka of Spirit Lake, Idaho; her sister, Jeanine Arrigo; a sister-in-law, Gerry Smith; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents; her brother, Larry; and a brother-in-law, Sam Arrigo.
