LEGION BASEBALL: Lums fall in semis at Palouse tourney

PULLMAN — After going 4-0 in round-robin play, the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen’s stay in the Palouse Summer Series ended with a 6-3 loss to Baden Premier 18U in the semifinals Sunday at Washington State’s Bailey-Brayton Field. 

Jack Pierce had two hits and Travis Usdrowski singled in a run for Coeur d’Alene (12-11), which plays host to Lewis-Clark on Tuesday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Thorco Field.

Prairie wins on walk-off at tourney 

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Mason Perkins delivered a two-run single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Prairie Cardinals 17U past Natural Baseball Colorado 18U 7-6 at the Pathway Omaha Tournament at the Council Bluffs Recreation Complex. 

With ghost runner Bryce Berger at second base to start the ninth, Logenn Storr was hit by a pitch, and Grady Stinson sacrificed them to second and third. Both scored on Perkins’ hard ground ball into left field. 

Perkins, Gavin Wienker and Alec Finn had two hits each for Prairie (11-6-1), which is 2-1-1 at the tourney. 

Prairie plays MVP Baseball 2025 this morning in the semifinals of the Gold Bracket, the winner of which finishes 11th in the 20-team UpperClass division of the tourney.

Northern Lakes rained out in third-place game 

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Northern Lakes and the Kalispell Lakers were rained out of their third-place game Sunday at the Howard Rein Memorial Tournament. 

Northern Lakes (12-5), which went 2-2 at the tourney, plays the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “A” team in a North Idaho League game Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Lake City High.
