William J. Colee was born June 21, 1943, in Detroit, Mich. He was raised in Grants Pass, Ore., and Reseda, Calif. Bill’s early years were defined by hard work and determination. In these formative places, he met Sandra Buck — the love of his life — beginning a 62-year journey of love and partnership.

Throughout his life, Bill embraced a variety of professions. He started his working years as a gas station attendant and eventually owned his own carpet cleaning business, reflecting his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. In 1973, Bill and Sandra, along with their three children, relocated to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where they embarked on a new venture by starting a Mexican restaurant, Taco John's. This vibrant chapter of their lives was not just about business but about building enduring memories as a family.

When not devoted to family or work, Bill found comfort and joy in the great outdoors. Whether it was hunting or fishing, the natural world was a second home to him. His passion for nature eventually led him and Sandra to Alaska in 1992, where he embraced the adventure of hunting for brown bear, moose and any other challenge the wilderness presented — often sharing these moments with his family and friends.

Bill’s legacy is one of love, Jesus and a zest for life connected deeply with the splendor of nature. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his three devoted children: Kimberlee (spouse Ross), Russell (spouse Lorie) and Randal (spouse Shona); nine grandchildren; and his sister, Lyn Teyema. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him, and his adventurous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who cherished him.

As we bid farewell to Bill, we are comforted by the enduring love and cherished memories he leaves behind. His journey may have ended here, but his spirit lives on in each of us.
