COEUR d’ALENE — Jack Pierce drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the second inning of the second game to give Coeur d’Alene the lead for good as the Lumbermen beat the visiting Lewis-Clark Twins 6-3 in the nightcap for a split of a Class AA North Idaho League doubleheader on Tuesday at Thorco Field.

Mark Holecek was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Cash Lund and tie the game at 2-2 in the second for Coeur d’Alene, which got four hits from Lund — all singles — in the win.

Coeur d’Alene loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but was unable to push across the tying run in a 3-2 loss to the Twins in the first game.

Coeur d’Alene pitcher Dylan Cook struck out nine in six innings.

Coeur d’Alene (13-12, 1-1 NIL) begins play in the Western Invitational against the Pocatello Runnin’ Rebels on Thursday in Hyrum, Utah.

Coeur d’Alene 2

COEUR d’ALENE — Jace Taylor and Jake Larcher drove in three runs each for the Mountaineers in a North Idaho League Class A win over the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen at Lake City High.

Northern Lakes pitcher Eric Wylie struck out seven and allowed four hits in the win.

“We do a really good job of striking first,” Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. “We’re averaging three to four runs in the first inning, then we trail off a little bit. On one side, it’s a little frustrating because it’s bit us a few times, but we’re trying to bridge the gap. We came out and really swung the bats well.”

Colten Nordman and Tristen Martin had RBIs for Coeur d’Alene (8-10-1, 3-4), which faces Prairie on Thursday at Post Falls High.

Northern Lakes (13-3, 7-0 NIL) travels to Orofino for a doubleheader on Friday.
