COEUR d’ALENE — Significant donors to The Rotary Foundation were recently honored for their contributions to the nonprofit arm of Rotary International that oversees grants and humanitarian assistance around the world.

Notable donors are recognized by the Paul Harris Society, named for the founder of Rotary International.

“Major donors, including some who are no longer with us, have donated $235,000 to the Rotary Foundation,” Rotarian Hank Martin said.

Rotary District Governor Elect David Keyes came from Sandpoint to lend his support during the Paul Harris Society ceremony at The Coeur d’Alene Resort, along with District Governor Nominee Steve Roberge.

“Each Rotarian is asked to contribute some to the foundation and most give what they can,” Keyes said.

The Paul Harris Fellows recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Mike Baker, Brenda Bookholtz, Julie Amador, Linda Coppess and Aimee Tannenberger received honors for becoming Paul Harris Fellows.

Joe Morris and Matt Lyman also received accolades, with Lyman deciding to credit his grandchildren with additional Paul Harris donations he had accrued.

Clint Schroeder, publisher of The Press and president of the Hagadone Newspaper and Media Groups, was recognized for reaching the second level of being a major donor with the foundation.

“Clint Schroeder is a star in the Rotary world. He was the District Governor in Hawaii,” Keyes said.

Schroeder said the Rotary Foundation's humanitarian work makes a difference. Some of his Rotary trips have overseen projects in Myanmar, India and Thailand.

"I’ve been fortunate to travel with Rotary around the world and see what those dollars do for the recipient and how far that money goes,” Schroeder said.

He said with Rotary’s international work, he has seen for himself that their work puts “smiles on people's faces' and changes lives."

“There's a little bit of good in everybody and there’s a chance to do something impactful,” Schroeder said.
