Libby’s strong offense helps sweep of Twins

LIBBY — Ian Thom went 2-3 and drove in a run for the Libby Loggers in a sweep of the Glacier Twins Wednesday.
The Loggers claimed game one 9-4, while game two ended 6-2
West Amerman put the Twins (2-14) on the board first in game one with a single that brought in Nolan Amerman and Trenton DeRosa in the top of the first.
The Loggers (12-20) responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame before Glacier turned a 6-3-2 triple play to end the inning.
Libby seized control of the game with a four-run fifth inning, spearheaded by RBI singles from Tanner Wolfe, Brody Gilmore and a two-RBI base hit from Thom to take an 8-4 lead.
James Woody went four innings on the mound for the Loggers, allowing four runs on four hits. He struck out three. Kale Riddle threw three shutout innings in relief, fanning two.
Dawson Juntunen went the distance for the Twins, scattering eight hits and striking out three.
In game two, West Amerman again put Glacier ahead in the first, this time with a sacrifice fly.
Libby responded in the second as two runs came in on an error to make it 2-1. An RBI single from Elijah Foulke grew the advantage in the third.
The Loggers added two more runs in the fourth on a Boe Miles RBI single and a wild pitch that brought Miles home, making it 5-1.
Glacier had their chance in the sixth, bringing in one run on a single from Treyson Murphy, but the Loggers escaped with no more damage done.
Bransen Holzer threw all seven innings for Libby, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out four.
