CLARK FORK — Itching to get in a 59-mile bike ride this summer? There’s still time to sign up for the Monarch Grind, a charity event that takes place in beautiful Clark Fork.
The race begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 28, and starts at about 2,000 feet above sea level, where riders make their way through Clark Fork, across the gorgeous Clark Fork River, past lush fields and climb beyond the iconic Green Monarchs into the Coeur d’Alene Mountain.
Individuals registered for the event are eligible to receive on-course support, participation swag, a post-ride meal and drink, a post-ride raffle and an award ceremony and podium presentation.
Registration for the event is $150, with proceeds donated to Pend Oreille Pedalers and KRFY — Panhandle Community Radio. At the time of publishing, there are 43 registration spots open. Registration ends the day of the event, June 28, at 7:30 a.m.
Packet/registration pickup is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 24-27 at the Syringa Cyclery, and 6:30-7:30 a.m. the morning of the event at Clark Fork High School.
The ride is part of the three-ride Panhandle Gravel Series. The Monarch Grind proceeds 3/4 Minus Cykeltur and is followed by Aether's Traverse. To be eligible for overall series results, competitors must participate in all three of the rides.
