HYRUM, Utah — A pair of late comebacks fell short as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “AA” team lost twice on Friday at the Western Invitational.

The Lums (14-14) now 1-2 in tourney play.

Against Bear River, Travis Usdrowski drove in three runs for the Lums. He hit a solo homer in the first inning, then hit a two-run single in the seventh to pull Coeur d’Alene within two runs with nobody out. But the next three Lums were retired.

Aven Adams doubled to open the seventh for Coeur d’Alene, advanced to third on Mark Holecek’s single, and scored on Jack Pierce’s double.

Against Silverado, Dylan Cook had two hits, both doubles including a two-run double to cap a four-run seventh inning for the Lums.
