WSU men's basketball team set for summer foreign tour
The Washington State men’s basketball team will travel to England and Spain this summer as part of a 13-day foreign trip, WSU coach David Riley announced Friday.
The trip will give WSU the chance to play three games against European clubs and engage in cultural experiences and team-building activities.
WSU will travel to London, July 24, visiting the United Kingdom’s capitol, before traveling to Málaga, Spain, July 29. The Cougars will conclude their tour in Barcelona, Aug. 2-5. The 2025-26 WSU team will play one game in each city, totaling three exhibition games.
Additional details, including an itinerary and game schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. WSU’s games are not expected to be streamed, but Cougar student-athletes will provide behind-the-scenes coverage across social media channels and the WSU Cougars’ website, including expected visits to London’s Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and Barcelona’s La Rambla and Sagrada Familia.
The NCAA permits programs to participate in foreign tours once every four years, granting the team 10 additional practices prior to departure.
The Cougar men’s team last traveled abroad in August 2016, visiting Italy under Ernie Kent. Last summer, the WSU volleyball and women’s basketball programs had the opportunity to travel to Europe for similar foreign tours.
In 2012, the Cougar men traveled to Australia in a homecoming tour for Aussie native Brock Motum with coach Ken Bone.
