Jeannette 'Lucille' Askay Whaley, 85

Jeannette "Lucille" Askay Whaley, 85, passed peacefully away on June 21, 2025, at Hot Springs Health and Rehabilitation in Hot Springs following complications from multiple strokes. Jeannette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Born in Vancouver, Washington, on April 30, 1940, to father, Hugh and mother, Beulah Askay, Jeannette married her high school sweetheart, Donald Whaley, in 1959. The couple welcomed four children from 1960 to 1965. Jeannette was an artist, pilot, avid alpine skier, patroness of the arts and a voracious reader. She traveled the world and took pride in her work with the arts and in her church.
Jeannette is survived by her four children, Sabrina Whaley, Drew Whaley, Glynis Thakur and Kyle Whaley; as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert Sumner (MaryLynn King) and her sister, Roma Pederson, with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald Whaley; her parents, Hugh and Beulah; her stepfather, Bernard Sumner and her sister, Rita Dickinson (Howard Dickinson).
A service will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Polson at 10 a.m. on July 12, with a reception to follow.
