LEGION BASEBALL: Lums romp in finale at Western Invitational

HYRUM, Utah — Mark Holecek hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen beat the Post 43 Giants of Jackson, Wyo., 10-2 to conclude play in the Western Invitational at Hyrum City Park. 

Hunter Avriett and Tyler Voorhees had RBIs singles and Holecek added a sacrifice fly to give Coeur d’Alene a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Aven Adams singled to score Jack Pierce to make it 4-0 and Avriett singled to score Asa Morton to make it 5-0 in the third. 

Morton finished with three hits and three runs scored for Coeur d’Alene (15-14), which travels to face Lewis-Clark in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Harris Field starting at 2 p.m.

Post 43 is 6-25-1.
