Mariners take pair of wins in Dillon tourney

DILLON — Hunter Luedtke drove in two runs in each of a pair of wins for the Mission Valley Mariners Saturday at the Maybelle Arthur Memorial Tournament.
The Mariners downed Kuna Tribe 5-1 and the Dillon Cubs 5-3, to move to 3-0 at the tournament.
Against Kuna Tribe, Luedtke scored Cole Wadsworth on a groundout to put the Mariners on the board.
Cody Haggard grew the lead to 3-0 in the third with a two-RBI single to left that scored Holden Emerson and Luedtke.
A Luedtke single helped the Mariners grow the advantage to 5-0 in the fourth.
Cash Atkinson threw five shutout innings for Mission Valley on the mound, allowing three hits and striking out five.
In the second game of the day, Luedtke doubled to left field in the top of the seventh to put the Mariners in front 4-3. He scored two batters later on a passed ball.
Wadsworth threw three innings for the Mariners, allowing one run on two hits. He fanned three. Luedtke threw 1 1-3 scoreless innings in relief.
