LEGION BASEBALL: Morast shines as Prairie sweeps Orofino

POST FALLS — James Morast struck out six and pitched a four-hit shutout as the Prairie Cardinals 17U team blanked the Orofino Merchants in the first game, which counted in the Class A North Idaho League standings, Sunday at Post Falls High. 

Prairie also won the nonleague second game 13-3.  

Mason Perkins went 3 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Prairie (14-8-1, 5-1) in the first game. 

In the second game, Timothy Howard hit a three-run double to highlight an eight-run fourth inning for the Cardinals. Perkins also drove in three runs, two on a third-inning double. 

Prairie plays host to first-place Northern Lakes on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Post Falls High in a Class A North Idaho League game.
