Loyola Rams cruise to Western B boys title

HAMILTON — Make it three straight for the Rams.

Missoula Loyola put up 50 points in the first half and cruised to its third consecutive boys Western B divisional title, defeating Thompson Falls 82-40 Saturday. 

The win gives the defending State B champions the top seed out of the West in the Class B State tournament in Missoula March 13-15. Thompson Falls also advances as the No. 2 seed. 

Earlier in the day, Anaconda and Florence picked up early wins to advance to the third-place game, which the Copperheads claimed 52-39.

Anaconda can’t challenge for the No. 2 seed because it lost to Thompson Falls in the first round on Thursday.


Loyola 82, T-Falls 40

Ethan Stack scored 23 points and Reynolds Johnston added 17 for Loyola as they rolled past Thompson Falls. 

The Rams put one hand on the trophy early after a 31-5 first quarter. The score was 50-15 after 16 minutes. 

Bryson LeCoure led the Blue Hawks with 17 points.

Travis Dye scored 16 points and Brody Galle added 11 for Anaconda. 

Bridger Alexander led the Falcons with 13 points.

Brody Duchien hit eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points as Florence ousted Troy. 

Kempton Sloan scored 14 points to lead the Trojans (11-11).

Galle scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the second half for Anaconda. 

Damian Marceau led the way for the Warriors (14-11) with 12.
