Wendy McClintock has resigned from her Zone 2 seat on the Boundary County Library board, citing health reasons for the decision. 

At the Feb. 20, meeting of the Boundary County Library Board of Trustees, the Zone 2 trustee submitted her formal resignation. 

“It has been a privilege to serve the library and the community in this capacity, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its mission,” McClintock said. 

“I want to extend my thanks to the entire board for your collaboration and dedication to the library’s goals. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and have full confidence that the library will continue to thrive in the future.” 

The current board’s longest serving member, McClintock represented the zone for 16 years. Fellow trustees thanked McClintock for her service, saying her wisdom and experience will be sorely missed. 

The board declared the seat vacant and, by law, has 60 days to fill the position for the two months left in McClintock’s term.  Those from the zone interested in serving on the board should submit a letter of interest to the Boundary County Library director before the March 20 meeting. In addition to a letter of interest, applicants should include a brief resume highlighting work history and education. Applicants must be over the age of 21 and live in Zone 2, which encompasses the Moyie Springs area. There is a map outlying the zones available at the courthouse, at the library and on the library website. Experience in board meetings, community service, etc. is not required, but is helpful.  

The Zone 2 position will be open for regular elections in May. Individuals interested in continuing to serve in the position must also submit their intentions to run with the Boundary County Clerk before the March 21 deadline to place their name on the May 20 ballot. Forms are available at the courthouse and require some signatures from people within their district as well as other information.  

The board is required to appoint someone within 60 days of McClintock stepping down, and then by law, that appointee must run in the next election, which is in May.  

Those interested in applying for the seat should be advised that, due to the law and the timing of the process, it will be necessary to apply separately for the Zone 2 seat for the May election by March 21 to place their name on the ballot.
