WALLACE – It's time to get holier than thou as the Sixth Street Theater in Wallace presents their March show, Nunsense.  

The popular off-Broadway show is making its way to the stage in Wallace for the sixth time and stars Joy Persoon, Carol Roberts, Angela Curl, Naomi Medley, and Emily Hasz as the titular nuns, with theater veteran Paul Roberts in the director’s chair.  

The story, written by Dan Goggins in 1985, centers around five nuns who teach at a school in Hoboken, New Jersey. After an unfortunate cooking incident led to the deaths of much of their convent, the remaining group is raising funds to bury their departed sisters. However, some irresponsible spending by the Reverend Mother left them short by four burials and forced them to stash the four corpses in the convent’s walk-in freezer.  

Now, the remaining five nuns are putting on a variety show to raise the last of the burial funds, using the skills from their lives before they put on the habit.  

Filled with laughs, music, and heart, Nunsense is pure entertainment from the opening number to the final bow. 

“It’s a lot of fun,” Paul Roberts said. “Over the years, there have been sequels and spin-offs, but people who have seen Nunsense will go out of their way to see it again.”  

The all-star cast is full of Sixth Street veterans; Persoon has been cast in various adaptations of Nunsense five different times during her acting career at Sixth Street but has never played the Reverend Mother until now. Roberts, Hasz, and Medley are all wonderful in their roles as Sister Mary Hubert, Sister Robert Anne, and Sister Mary Leo, respectively.  

But the real star of the show is Curl in the role of Sister Mary Amnesia. Curl tackles her part like an unhinged child with no recollection of her past while never shying away from being a part of the fun. Her scene with Sister Marionette is among the funniest moments ever to grace the stage at Sixth Street.
