100 Years Ago 

The fourth annual Father and Son banquet has gone down in local Boy Scout history as one of the most successful of the many affairs sponsored by that organization. Boxing and wrestling were a big feature of the evening and proved very entertaining. 

A deal was closed yesterday whereby the Bonners Garage located in the Martin Estlund brick building at the north end of Main Street, was sold by W.L. Casey to Geo. Myers and S.U. Smith, who announced that they will be ready for business Monday, March 16. The business will be conducted under the name of the Idaho Garage. 

Howard Monks broke 24 out of 25 clay birds last Saturday, to help the Sandpoint- Bonners Ferry team in the Spokesman- Review annual trap shooting tournament win over Garfield-St. Johns.

Ben Studer is to be installed as Chamber of Commerce president. 

Pack River Lumber Co. and Boundary County oppose the Forest Service closing of a portion of Pack River Road. 

The Bicentennial Wagon train will be in Bonners Ferry on March 25. 

Northern Lights Inc., proposed a new power dam at Kootenai Rapids near Troy, Montana. 

The basics are near completion at the fine new clubhouse at Mirror Lake Golf Course.

An avalanche killed a Newport, WA man near McCormack Lake. 

Local Health and Welfare office may close. 

Blaine Invernon becomes the first Badger freshman to win the state title in wrestling. 

Well Life Pharmacy is moving from its BTC location to the old Taco Bell building.
