Dale Fredrick Newell, 82

Our beloved husband, father, brother and Papa, Dale Fredrick Newell, passed away suddenly March 4, 2025.
Born to Ruby and Bud Newell on Feb. 28, 1943. He grew up in Whitefish, Mont. He enlisted in the Navy after high school. He served as a radarman on the USS King and also served in the Naval Reserves. He then went on to attend North Idaho College and the University of Idaho. He found the love of his life, Sandra, in college. They were married Aug. 8, 1970. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Matthew and Annica. They were later blessed with a wonderful grandson, Connor Newell.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed many outdoor activities: fishing, scuba diving, golfing, hiking and biking. He loved aviation and in his younger years was an avid pilot. For many years, he was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. One of his favorite hobbies was HAM radio. He enjoyed watching football and cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs in his favorite gear from his daughter.
For 32 years, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a civil engineer tech. He used his HAM radio knowledge to become a communications leader for a national fire team.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Newell; son Matthew Newell; grandson Connor Newell; daughter Annica Jackson (Dan); brother David Newell (Myrna); niece Amanda Holland (John); brother Bob Newell; niece Pam Williamson; sister-in-law Carol Hathhorn-Guice; nephew Randy Hathhorn and grandniece Rachel Hathhorn.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Lutheran Church of the Master, 4800 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815.
