MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was booked into the Grant County Jail on Tuesday after he told police he had killed his roommate about a week earlier.

Kyler Wortham, 34, was booked in connection with the death of Kurt Volquardson, 61. Moses Lake Police Department Captain Jeff Sursely said Volquardson’s death was reported around 10 p.m. March 12.

“Evidence and information obtained at the scene indicated the victim had died of a possible overdose,” Sursely wrote in a press release.

Officers obtained information the case may have been a homicide, Sursely said.

“At about 9:30 p.m. officers were contacted by the defendant who confessed to killing the victim, who was his roommate,” Sursely said.

The case is still under investigation as officers work out the details of what happened.
