Barbara began her life in Detroit, Mich., when a child could ride her bike safely for hours about town. Around the age of 12, seeking God’s grace, she enrolled herself in catechism at the local Lutheran church, where she attended instruction thrice weekly. Until her passing, she continued friendships with members of that faith community.

After graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s and a teaching credential, she taught elementary students in Detroit and later in the Territory of Hawaii.

Coming back to the mainland, Barbara met and soon married Richard Kamprath of Seward, Neb., in 1958. Together, they had three children. Upon moving west, Barbara obtained an MA in Special Ed and taught in Concord, Calif., for nearly 40 years.

At the age of 50, she took up running. Her training advanced, and she consistently placed first among her age groups in races. She completed numerous marathons, including in San Francisco and New York.

Barbara became a Catholic and had a second marriage when she wedded Leroy Radtke of De Pere, Wis., in 1999.

Always vibrant, faithful and confident, she was a patroness of the arts and a pro-life witness. Moving permanently to Idaho in 2015, she attended daily Mass at St. Thomas’s and drove herself to Spokane’s “Planned Parenthood,” offering prayers for mothers and the unborn.

Barbara is survived by her son, John Kamprath, of Coeur d’Alene, and daughter Lili Moreland, of East Stroudsburg, Pa. Her eldest child, Johanna Sindelar, of Santa Fe, N.M., predeceased Barbara by 29 days. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is known and treasured for always putting others first.

A viewing will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene (744 N. Fourth St. Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814).
