The Mineral County Performing Arts Council is a non-profit organization that has been bringing talented artists since 2007 to a wide array of musical venues. The Wardens from Canada were enjoyed recently to one of the largest audiences in recent memory and on Thursday, April 10 in a 180-degree format shift, Quing Li and Vladimir Vlaljarevic’ from the Piatigorsky Foundation perform at 7 p.m. in the LDS Church 117 Moats Lane in Superior.
Ms. Li is currently a violin faculty artist of the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She is also a faculty artist of the NYO-China, a Carnegie Hall project, and is active in International Festivals throughout US, Asia and South America. Born in Beijing China, Ms. Li began violin studies at age 4 with her father.
At age 12, Qing Li was accepted to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Astonishing in her musical versatility, Qing Li brings great warmth, poise and insight to her music making.
Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Valjarevic’ received his initial music education in Tuzla as a student of Planinka Jurisic-Atic. After studies at Belgrade Conservatory (Serbia), he moved to New York City on a scholarship from Mannes School of music where he teaches piano today and at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. His performances have taken him throughout America, Europe and Asia, which have garnered enthusiastic critical acclaim.
Their performance is free to attend with donations appreciated. Beverages and refreshments are offered at the end of the performance with the opportunity to meet with the artists.
“We have been hosting this New York City based foundation continuously since 2012, with the exception of a 2-year hiatus due to COVID,” shared MCPAC Treasurer Jim Goss, referring to the Piatigorsky Foundation. “Their mission closely aligns with ours which is to bring towering musical figures to rural communities in small scale productions. The Piatigorsky Foundation artists impart their love of classical music in honor of famed cellist Gregor Piatigorsky. Our audiences come away with a greater appreciation of (mostly) classical music and what inspired composers of this genre through the centuries.”
