City approves Mineral Avenue closures for 406 Day, Ignite the Nites

Libby City Councilors approved two requests for street closures at its March 17 meeting.
One was for the Igniters Car Club “Ignite the Nites” car show Aug. 14-16, which also included a variance from the noise ordinance.
The 64th annual show, according to information at igniterscarclub.com, begins Thursday, Aug. 14 with the High Stakes Poker Run.
Car show and cruise registration is from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. The cruise runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. At 9 p.m., Neon Lights and Flame Throwers will perform in front of First Montana Bank.
Saturday, car show registration runs from 8 a.m. to noon with the show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. Costume contests for ‘50s Pin-Up Girl, RockaBilly Dude and RockaBetty Girl are at 1 p.m.
The awards ceremony and pedal car drawing is at 3 p.m. followed by the Ron Remp Memorial Burnout Contest at 5 p.m. at the Millpond Motocross Park.
The other street closure request also is for Mineral Avenue on Saturday, April 5, for the Second Annual Montana 406 Day event. It is being hosted by Red, White and Brews and other Libby businesses.
Road blocks will be placed at Second Street and Mineral Avenue and Sixth Street and Mineral Avenue from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
According to Red, White and Brews’ Sherri Roberts, there will be local vendors, live entertainment and fun attractions for people of all ages. She also said in her March 3 letter to the council that at least a dozen businesses and one county office were interested in participating.
