Bonners Ferry residents welcomed the season at the Farmers Market’s opening day on Saturday.

Unlike last year’s dreary, drizzly start, this year’s opening day was sunny and warm, and the perfect weather added to the vibrant spring atmosphere at the market. Rain or shine, the event always draws a crowd, marking the unofficial arrival of spring in Bonners Ferry.

The scent of barbecue filled the air, and the live music of Scott Stover echoed across the bustling city lot where the market takes place. Smiles were plentiful as patrons browsed a diverse array of vendors offering everything from handmade art, woodwork, and baked goods to jewelry, soap, plants, flowers, produce, and more.

One of the oldest in Idaho, the Bonners Ferry Farmers Market began in 1980 as the Boundary County Farmers Market. Over the years, the market has expanded its offerings and grown to an average of 30 vendors.

The market is located in the city lot next to U.S. 95 and the Bonners Ferry Visitors Center. The market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until the first Saturday in October.
