Bulawsky’s perfect 3 innings highlight Wildkats’ sweep

COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls’ Annika Reid had three hits and drove in four runs, Katie Bulawsky struck out every batter she faced and the Wildkats went on to run-rule Browning twice, 17-0 and 15-0, to sweep a Northwest A doubleheader.


In the opener Reid twice hit RBI singles during the same nine-run third inning for the Kats; her second hit made the score 12-0. Alexa Friske followed with her second single of the inning, driving in two more runs to cap the surge. 


Bulawsky’s perfect outing lasted three innings because of the mercy rule. She struck out nine, throwing 47 pitches, and helped her own cause with two runs batted in and two runs scored. 


Bella Mann had two doubles and Chevelle Bedford and Ella Branstetter each hit one for Columbia Falls, which combined 16 hits with 12 walks.  


In the nightcap Tayler Lingle had three hits and drove in three runs, while Addy Bowler had three hits, scored twice and drove in two for the Kats (11-6 overall, 7-2 in Northwest A games). Sydnee Burke had three hits as well.  


Mann, Bowler, Reid and Onnika Lawrence hit doubles; Mann, Branstetter and Lawrence all had two RBIs. 


Branstetter allowed one hit and one walk in three innings, fanning six.  


Libby 15, Whitefish 0 


LIBBY — Dakota Allen hit a two-run double in the first inning, Bently Houston hit a two-run triple in the second and the Libby Loggers went onto claim their first Northwest A win in three innings. 


Madison Vincent and Weslee MacDonald each had two hits and scored twice to spark Libby (5-8 overall, 1-5 in league), which scored eight runs in the first inning. Tessa Purdy drove in three runs for the Loggers, including a two-run single that ended the game under the mercy rule. 


Carmen Kohler and MacDonald combined to no-hit the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-6). Kohler threw the first two innings, allowing one walk and fanning five. 




Troy 15, Eureka 10 


TROY — Kirsti Jellesed hit two doubles and drove in four runs, and the Troy Lady Trojans used a 10-run third inning to erase a 7-2 deficit and beat the Eureka Lions in Class B action. 


Leslie Gravier tripled, singled and scored four runs for Troy (12-3). Her two-run single in the third put her team ahead for good, 9-7. She also threw 2 2-3 innings of solid relief, taking over for Halle Wallace with two on and the score 12-8 in the fifth inning.  


Eureka got two more runs on an error and groundout, but Troy got three runs back in its half of the fifth. Gravier struck out three Lions. Wallace fanned three as well, and allowed five hits, five walks and three earned runs in 4-plus innings. 


Addyson Fisher had a double and scored three times; Kylie Cole had a double and drove in two. 


Leah Tkachyk had three hits, including an RBI double in a five-run third inning, and drove in three runs for Eureka (3-13).
