Hecla reports first-quarter profit of $29.9M

COEUR d'ALENE (AP) — Hecla Mining Co. on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $29.9 million.
The Coeur d'Alene-based company said it had profit of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 4 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 3 cents per share.
The precious metals company posted revenue of $261.3 million in the period.
