SANDPOINT — McKenna Zimmerman’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run seventh inning in the second game, and the Post Falls Trojans went on to beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 9-4 to earn a split of their Inland Empire League doubleheader Thursday at War Memorial Field.
Sandpoint won the opener 7-6.
Jaya Felix went 3 for 4 with a triple and double in the nightcap for Post Falls (10-10, 8-8 IEL), and Rylan Morrison struck out six.
In the opener, Post Falls rallied from five runs down, and had the tying run at second base in the seventh inning before falling.
Sienna Williams tripled in a run, and scored on an error on the play to pull the Trojans within 7-6. Williams finished with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the third to open the scoring.
Sandpoint (6-18, 4-14) scored all seven runs in the fourth.
Lexie McCarroll struck out nine in the opener for Post Falls. Zimmerman went 4 for 8 on the day with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Post Falls, the No. 3 seed, will play at No. 2 Lake City on Saturday at noon in the loser-out first round of the 6A District 1 tournament. The winner advances to play top-seeded Coeur d’Alene in a best-of-3 series for the district title starting Tuesday at Cd’A.

RATHDRUM — The host Hawks held tough against the Bengals, the top seed for the upcoming 5A Region 1 tournament, before dropping both Inland Empire League games to wrap up the regular season.
Reese Dutton hit a three-run homer in the first game for Lakeland (8-14, 6-10 IEL), and Kiersten Drake and Delilah Zimmerman added solo shots.
Drake hit a two-run homer in the second game and finished with three RBIs, Raygen Dutton added a solo homer, and Jaiden Corbey doubled and drove in three runs.
Lewiston (13-11, 13-5) hit seven homers on the day, including four by Anna Ready, who finished 7 for 8 with seven RBIs and six runs scored. Jenna Barney also homered twice for the Bengals.
The regional tournament begins Tuesday at Airport Park in Lewiston, with No. 2 Lakeland playing No. 3 Moscow, and No. 1 Lewiston facing No. 4 Sandpoint, both at 3 p.m.
Winners meet in the championship game for a berth to state at 5, and the losers meet in a loser-out game at 5.
