ST. MARIES — St. Maries out-hit the visitors 10-6, but four runs in the third inning were all the third-seeded Grangeville Bulldogs needed to edge the second-seeded Lumberjacks 4-3 in the semifinals of the 3A District 1-2 tournament Friday.

St. Maries jumped on top in the first inning when Addilyn Turner singled in a run and Brenna Elliott delivered a sacrifice fly.

Caryss Barger hit a two-run single in the third for Grangeville (13-10), and scored on a base hit by Siena Wagner.

The Lumberjacks pulled within a run in the fifth, but had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the inning. St. Maries loaded the bases in the sixth, but was unable to score.
