A new local office furniture provider has opened in Evergreen, offering full service from sales, design and installation.

Glacier Office Furniture Owner Dillon Ashley brings a decade of experience in the field from his previous position at J2, where he started working at 15 years old alongside his father. When J2 Business Products, which became 360 Business Solutions, was sold to Staples, Ashley decided it was time to make a move and start his own company.

“I just wanted to be able to personalize everyone’s experience again because I was kind of getting out of the loop in the corporate world,” Ashley said. "I had a lot of help from other business owners and that made the leap a little less scary.”

Ashley and employee Bailey Lake have spent April planning and preparing to open a showroom at the company’s location at 2593 U.S. 2, Suite 11. Their goal is to have the showroom ready by June.

He said Glacier Office Furniture strives to develop solutions for different types of office spaces with an emphasis on ergonomics, starting with chairs.

“Your chair is always a big deal. It’s kind of like a bed. You spend a lot of time in your bed and a lot of time in your chair. You want to make sure you have a good chair,” Ashley said.

Glacier Office Furniture will also teach clients and their employees how to use adjustable equipment, like chairs and computer monitor arms, to ensure it functions well and is comfortable for different body types. In Ashley’s experience, he’s found that office chairs, for example, need some type of adjustment out of the box.

“When I drop off a chair to someone, I make sure that they know all the functions because I’ve gone into offices and people are like, 'My chair is just not comfortable.’ Well, it’s just not set up for you. Then I grab the seat slider and pull it forward and they’ll say, ‘Oh this is so comfortable now,’ and they’ve had the chair for four or five years,” he said.

“We’ll have a 10-day loan program, so if you come in, like a chair and want to try it, you can take it or I can drop it off,” Ashley added.

He said that adjustable furniture is nearly the standard for contemporary offices.

“The height adjustable [furniture] when I first started was not really a thing and that has become a huge thing because people want to stand and work now, which is better than sitting and these monitor arms are great for several reasons,” Ashley said moving a computer monitor arm set up on a nearby desk, up forward and backward, up and down.

“You can adjust them any way you want,” he said, in addition to securing and managing multiple cables and making cleaning desks easier.

Longevity and quality at a range of price points were also important considerations for the brands Glacier Office Furniture offers. Ashley said he seeks out vendors and brands that come with warranties.
