Incumbents Gene Hemene James and Margaret SiJohn were re-elected to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Tribal Council on Saturday.

The new council unanimously re-elected Chief J. Allan as chairman, elected Donald Sczenski as vice chairman and Margaret SiJohn as secretary treasurer.

“As we embark on exciting business ventures and tackle the challenges of uncertainty ahead, we can be confident in the experienced leadership on this Tribal Council,” Allan said.

The swearing in ceremony was held at the Evan Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet on Monday with Tribal membership and staff in attendance.

In remarks to the Tribal membership, each council member noted how important continuity in leadership has been to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and a key to the success the Tribe has experienced.

Chief Allan was first elected chairman in 2005. Gene Hemene James and Margaret SiJohn have both previously served two three-year terms on the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council.
