PREP ROUNDUP: Timberlake boys, Miller qualify for state golf

• GOLF

BONNERS FERRY — Timberlake’s boys and Tiger junior Malia Miller qualified for state at the 4A District 1 golf tournament Monday at Mirror Lake Golf Course. 

Timberlake’s boys shot a 379 for a 41-stroke victory over Bonners Ferry in the two-team event. Tiger senior Payden DeVore shot 85 to finish second individually, and sophomore Tyler Sells was third with a 94. 

Miller was the girls district champion, shooting an 88 and was the lone Timberlake girls state qualifier. 

Bonners Ferry’s girls shot a 448 to win the district title handily. 

State is next Monday and Tuesday at Clear Lake Country Club in Buhl.

COEUR d’ALENE — The Vikings won everything but No. 1 girls doubles in defeating the Panthers at Coeur d’Alene High. 

“It was a great team win today,” Coeur d’Alene boys coach Corey DeLeonard said. “We had girls step up and deliver some solid wins in areas where we had injuries coming into the match. We need to stay focused because we play a tough Sandpoint team (Tuesday) to see who can finish the season undefeated. It should be fun.”
