Whitefish, Eureka cruise to lopsided wins

WHITEFISH — Calvin Eisenbarth went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs to lead the Whitefish Bulldogs to a 17-2 win over the Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen in high school baseball Monday. 

Whitefish (11-2) wasted no time offensively, the first eight Bulldogs reached base, highlighted by Finn Ryan’s RBI triple that capped a 9-run first inning. The Bulldogs added eight more runs in the second inning and closed out the Savage Horsemen in three innings due to the mercy rule. 

Reed Boyer earned the win, pitching just two innings with two hits, two earned runs, three walks and striking out four. Same Akey closed out the third, striking out two with no hits or runs allowed.  

The Savage Horsemen (1-11) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring a run on a wild pitch and Beau Crabb RBI single in the first. Zayden Allen added the other hit.  

Eureka 20, Browning 0 

BROWNING — Tyce Van Orden scored three runs and drove in two, Hunter Greive added two RBIs as the Eureka Lions took advantage of a Browning Indians pitching staff who couldn’t find the zone. 

The Lions (10-3) walked 20 times and only recorded two hits in the game, a Van Orden double and an Emmett Mckim single. Logan Cuffe and Michael Van Glider both earned three base on balls and came around to score each time. 

Van Orden took the mound for the Lions and didn’t allow a hit across three innings with the game being called early due to the mercy rule. He walked three and earned eight of his nine outs via strikeout. 

Browning (0-12) is still searching for their first win of the season. Jorian Snow, Jordan Walker and Matthew Augare each drew walks.
