Cat-Pack Dual swept by Glacier

COLUMBIA FALLS — Glacier’s track and field program had the Dr. Nicosia Cat-Pack Dual on the docket Thursday, and its safe to say the Pack took advantage.
Seven Glacier boys put up marks that were top-10 in Class AA while the Wolfpack outscored Columbia Falls 96-47; the Wolfpack girls beat the Wildkats 86.5-52.5.
Dylan Smith uncorked another personal record in the discus, with a throw of 180 feet, 4 inches, the second-best in AA. The senior won another dual with Columbia Falls standout Lane Voermans, who threw 172-3.
Ben Winters PR’d in the shot put for Glacier, throwing 53-2, third in AA.
Other notable PRs belonged to Kobe Dorcheus, who threw 165-11 to win the javelin, the third-best in AA; Daniel Pedersen, whose throw of 162-0 is 10th; Spencer Hodges, who cleared 13-0 in the pole vault; and Chase Chaffin, who leapt 21-5 to win in the long jump, No. 10 in AA.
Cooper Pelc sits 10th in the 300 hurdles after his winning time of 40.91 Thursday.
Hodges was third in the vault, behind the Wildcat tandem of Isak Soyland (14-0) and Oliver Kress (13-6). Columbia Falls’ Banyan Johnston hit 6-2 to win the high jump, and his teammate Jack Phelps cruised to wins in the 100 and 400.
More wins for the Pack: Brecken Thorn in the triple jump; Ethan Anderson in the 110 hurdles (14.78) and 200; and Brogan Lancaster in the 800 (a PR of 2:10.86).
The top time out of the girls dual came in the short relay, where Glacier’s Breanna Barnes, Carmen Eddy, Emmery Schmidt and Zeila Wanger clocked the fourth-best time in AA — 49.70 seconds.
Wagner won the 100 Thursday, and Barnes won the pole vault. Winning two events were Rylee Bigelow (discus, shot put) and Jaidyn Pevey (long jump with a PR of 16-6.5, high jump).
The Pack also had victories from Dacia Benkelman (400), Rachel Brannan (triple jump) and Charlotte Osler (javelin).
Columbia Falls freshman Peyton Ross won the 200, and the Kats’ Mila Johns (800), Aubrey Smith (100 hurdles) and Devyn Shough (300 hurdles).
